On the occasion of the Noche en Blanco 2012 celebration the Andalousia Contemporary Art Centre
will offer nocturnal guided visits to the exhibition “Abstraction and Movement“.
The starting thesis is simple and can be resumed in the following way: in the visual arts during the 20th century happened two great artistic achievements that have supposed a revolution similar to that of the perspective in the Renaissance. The first one, recognised in art historiographies, is the abstraction. The second one is the movement, just recently valued through the expanded cinema, experimental films and video, but also through seriality, installations, optic painting, animation and other new methods.
This wide exhibition tries to put together these two enormous achievements in order to study a new characteristic phenomena: abstraction and movement. It has had three big strong historical moments: the twenties and the thirties; the sixties and the seventies; and nowadays (approximately for the last 10 years), being dealt here these two last periods.
